Rev. Henry Williams, after becoming ill in 1923, revealed to Sis. Fannie Bell his conviction that God wanted a church on a specific plot of ground. Rev. Williams passed away and Sis. Bell told various people what he had said. Sis. Bell had a long talk with Rev. Aaron Pyburn and gave him a list of names she had compiled. Rev. Pyburn said he would talk to God about the matter. Nearly a year had passed when Rev. Pyburn was shown in a vision that the church should be organized. On February 24, 1924, the business and committees of the organization were put in order. Suggested names for the church were submitted for everyone to pray about. The following Sunday, the members voted to name the church Friendly Will, which was suggested by Sis. Matilda Wiliams. There were 20 members:

Rev. Pyburn had a second vision and that was, not an old building for the church. Therefore they built a new building. A great revival was held and the Lord added members to the fold. Services were held two Sundays a month until February 3, 1941 when full time services were voted in.
During the 1950’s the church building was remodeled and a fellowship hall was added, sidewalks were installed around the building and a microphone system and an organ were purchased. The Brotherhood was organized and Friendly Will joined the Federation of Choirs. The church, pastor and auxiliary leaders were represented in the St. John District Association and also in the state and national conventions. Friendly Will began to fellowship with neighboring churches each third Sunday evening, and the first homecoming service was in 1962.
